Flaurmont 24
Weather: Calm and Clear Skies
(Day Watch - Explore): Party found themselves
washed up on the barrier island at HS14.
The explored it for a bit and found a makeshift lean-to that had been
disassembled. Searching the rest of the island they found some random scraps of
good.
Heading north they
found a large tidal pool filled with sea urchins and various fish. Several of the
party were injured by stepping or falling in the beasts. They stumbled upon the
quartermaster of the ship who had died in the pools. They rescued his wreck
rowboat and salvaged some extra gear.
(Day Watch - Explore): The party crossed the
tidal pool at low tide and headed inland. They walked along a large black sand
beach in the lagoon, flecked with bits of golden shell. They heard a moaning
sound and the breaking of underbrush in the jungle to the east. Fearing for
their lives, they opted to stand very still as a very large reptilian beast
they could only occasionally make out through the jungle passed by headed to
the north.
Heading to the
southern tip of the island they climbed a tree to get a better vantage point.
To the east and northeast they could make out 2 volcanos; one dormant, one
active. They also saw a strange blue and copper dome rising from the jungle
near the closest volcano and a strange milk white waterfall cascading down the
slope to the north.
(Dusk Watch - Travel to the Known): Setting
out towards the dome, the encountered two strange looking creatures. These
short dog faced creatures were wielding a set of butterfly knives and flying in
pursuit of a wild boar. They broke off the chase to talk to the party and
introduced themselves as Sal and Vinnie. The invited the party to visit Svarku and celebrate the new moon at a massive
party in the active volcano. They also suggested avoiding the city to the south
as it was not safe.
After Sal and Vinnie
took off after their boar, the party continued onwards. As they had lost sight
of the dome in the foliage, they continued their hike up the side of the
volcano before reaching the peak. Hundreds of feet below they could see the
caldera of the volcano spewing magma, but no heat came off of it and no gasses
seemed to escape. Investigating further, they found that there was an invisible
'cap' over the volcano that they were able to walk across.
They took some time
and got their bearings looking out over the vast island, realizing the
magnitude of what they faced.
(Night Watch - Resting): Having reached the volcano and gained some basic bearing the party opted to settle in for the night. The soft heat and glow of the volcano was sufficient and they decided to not start a camp fire. Looking around as it got dark, Boren was able to see some smoking rising from somewhere on the northwestern part of the island but signs of a Martel township of any kind.
